| Scratches In Lacquer, a digital still animation from 2005 was made specifically for an exhibition at Intermedia Gallery in Glasgow. The camera set up low over the ground with two lamps attached I worked through a few nights photographing, following the width of the floorboards bit by bit until the whole floor had been recorded. This gallery space consisted of two adjoining rooms, one room had its floor painted grey. Played back as a film this sequence of 7661 individual photographs displays artists’ marks (ink spots, paint, cigarette burns, etc.) on the floor similarily to scratches and dust on old b&w films. |
